Ken Steinle, 21 years, Linehaul Tractor Trailer
"I had been doing factory work before I came to work for Tax-Air over 20 years ago. Over time, I worked my way up through pick-up and delivery, and I now drive a Linehaul Tractor Trailer at night. My driving day starts at 5:30pm – the docks are loaded with pick-ups and we start moving the freight to the different Tax-Air terminals. I make the run to our terminal in Madison, twice per night, and make some critical air freight deliveries on the way."
"Tax-Air is a great place to work – good equipment, nice people and they take care of you. After twelve years I get four weeks of vacation a year – you don't get that at many places. On top of that, there is a safe driving program in place that I have benefited from over the years. At this stage of my driving career, I really enjoy what I am doing."
Laura Schuman, 4 years, P & D Tractor Trailer
"Before I started working for Tax-Air, I was driving jet fuel trucks for several years. At Tax-Air, I am assigned to the East Troy run and I spend my days delivering and picking up skidded freight. However, my schedule is flexible and I do make runs to other places when needed."
"I am home every night, which I enjoy a lot. I drove over-the-road before and that's like camping – and I hate camping! Tax-Air is a very friendly company and has a family-like atmosphere that I really appreciate."
Randy Squires, 14 years, Superflex Tractor Trailer
"I was driving all over the Greater Midwest area before I came to work for Tax-Air. I start early in the morning, around 3:00am, pick-up from Milwaukee and head for Sheboygan. Being a Superflex driver, I also make runs in the opposite direction heading for Janesville and the Rockford area. At this point in my career, I am familiar with all the routes we cover and I can pick-up and go when a situation arises. But no matter what occurs, I am still back home at the end of the day."
"To be successful at Tax-Air, you need the right attitude – you have to be up for the challenge of driving and dealing with stressful situations. But you will get all the support you need from the Company. Tax-Air is a great place to work – simple as that."
Jerry Huckstorf, 22 years, Straight Truck
"I cover a good sized geographic area – Franklin, Muskego and down into Northern Illinois. I have a lot of customers that I deliver to and pick-up from on a daily basis. Client relations is a very big part of my job – I deal with both business and residential customers and you have to be able to handle whatever issue might come up. Tax-Air is always there to assist the driver in solving whatever problem arises."
"If you want to be successful here as a driver, you have to have the right attitude – this is no place for complainers. In our line of work, it is really important to keep morale high."
Mike King, 5 years, Superflex Straight Truck
"I was an over-the-road driver running between Wisconsin and New York, before I joined Tax-Air. Sometimes I would be gone 43 days straight. As a Superflex driver, I cover Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin, but I still get home every day. I pick-up and deliver everything from HazMat to normal freight. But Tax-Air is much more than just a company I drive for. The family atmosphere, and the fact that the ownership and the people I work with are concerned about me as a person, make it a very special place."
Rich Paciga, 18 years, Non-CDL Driver
"I started with Tax-Air working second shift on the Dock. Over the years, I moved to day shift and then applied for a driving position. I cover Milwaukee to Madison and as far south as Rockford and back to the lake. My days are full – I get my manifests in the morning and get in and go! I start at 6:00am, do my deliveries in the mornings and then spend my afternoons doing pick-ups."
"I would not have spent 18 years at Tax-Air if I did not like it. Things change over time and people come and go, but the core group of great individuals are still part of the Company."
